Abstract
The theory of planned behavior was applied to study cognitive characteristics of low-carbon commuting and recognition of low-carbon travel guidance policies.Structural equation modeling was used to analyze forces of low-carbon commuting behavior.Low-carbon commuting behavior was found to attribute to cognitive and demographic sociological characteristics in the choice, including cost and policies, determined by behavior intention, policy effect, commuting cost and perceived behavior control.Behavior intention of low-carbon commuting was decided by cognitive characteristics, of which attitude was the most significant, subjective norm the second, and perceived behavior control the weakest.Congestion reduction is believed to be the greatest benefit of low-carbon commuting, although comfort and convenience must be improved.Encouragement from family and friends could promote low-carbon commuting, although time costs and facilities would limit low-carbon commuting. For policy, subsidies and limiting car purchase could significantly upgrade the choice of low-carbon traffic.
