Abstract
Simulation program Geant 4 based on Monte Carlo method was used to analyze key parameters (length, shape and layers) of capillary array filled with liquid scintillant. Optimal design of capillary array for laboratory X-ray tubes was obtained. Influence of incident direction and absorber on capillary array imaging was analyzed. Imaging of parallel incidence of X-ray was found to be better than a conical incidence angle of 60-degree, also absorber must be added between individual capillaries to reduce crosstalk and to improve resolution. Simulation experiment on X-ray transmission imaging of aluminum plate was carried out. Capillary array filled with liquid scintillant was found to be able to obtain aluminum profile information, and obtain thickness information of aluminum plate according to the law of X-ray attenuation. Since the inner diameter of a single capillary can be down to micrometers, this coupled with high-resolution optical detection, capillary array could be applied to X-ray transmission imaging at micrometer scale.
