Abstract
Urban waterlogging has recently emerged more frequently and seriously due to climate change and accelerated urbanization. Regional rain process in the eastern urban district in Handan, Hebei, in different return periods was designed and calculated, waterlogging distributions in different scenarios were simulated and estimated through MIKE URBAN model, to decrease storm loss and optimize urban drainage management. It was found that with increase of return period, overflow points, waterlogging duration and maximum waterlogging depth all increased, resulting in the increase of overload drainage pipes. If only the pipes were simply expanded, the corresponding runoff reduction effect was negligible in ten-year and twenty-year storm event. This work provides some technical support for early warning deployment of stormwater and transformation of drainage pipeline networks.
