Abstract
The effect of salinity and inundation on halophytes litter decomposition and water environmental conditions in the Yellow River Delta wetland was examined with decomposition bag method.Decomposition rate of Phragmites australis and Suaeda salsa litter under different conditions was compared.Litter and water quality parameters were taken into account.Suaeda salsa litter was found to decompose faster than Phragmites australis litter.Litter was found to decompose faster under inundation and higher salinity conditions.Decomposition rate and litter nutrient dynamics were found both affected by litter quality and water environmental parameters.w(N)/w(P) and w(C)/w(P) of litter were found to be good predictors for litter decomposition.
